FULL ITINERARY
Day 01: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park through ziwa rhinos
You will be picked by your guide at your hotel,have a short briefing about the safari and then drive to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey will take you through Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the white Rhinos. Currently there are no Rhinos in any of the Ugandan parks due to heavy poaching of 1970’s during Idi Amin’s regime and during the civil war of 1980’s that led to their extinction. At the moment Uganda has about 30 Rhinos at Ziwa sanctuary for bleeding purposes with aim of breeding many to reintroduce them back. to the national parks. This project is being undertaken by the Ugandan government and a non government organization (Rhino. Fund). From Ziwa,you will drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a visit to the top of the falls. After, proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Pakuba lodge
Day 02: Morning game drive and boat cruise on the Nile in the afternoon
After breakfast, you Will go for early morning game drive in the northern part of the Park known for its high concentrated of wild life. Here you can see animals like lions, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, leopards and so much more. The delta region is very rich with water animals such as hippos, crocodiles and the rare shoebill. Enjoy your morning time gazing at wild animals as they graze and move freely in there natural habitat. Spotting of any animals will depend on the luck of the day. Afterword’s, you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and then head for the afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. This boat cruise is highlight of all activities in Murchison Falls National Park since many water and land animals can be sighted. Expect to see lots of Buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, many water birds as you cruise up stream to the bottom of the falls. Here the whole Nile river squeezes itself into a narrow gorge to later explode as it flows down stream to the delta. The boat cruise takes approximately 3 hours. After the ride, return back to the lodge for for evening relaxation and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Kibale National Park.
You will drive to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal town. You will have a stop over for Lunch in Fort Portal town and proceed to check in at chimpanzee guest house. If not tired you can make afternoon crater walk near the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Chimpanzee Guest House.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park headquarters at Kanyakyu to join other trekkers for briefing and eventual chimpanzee trekking. You will be led by a well-trained ranger/guide who will take you for a guided primate walk inside Kibale Forest National Park. This forest provides an opportunity to visit one of the habituated communities/part of chimpanzees and spend an hour with them observing and taking photographs. Kibale National Park is home to other 11 primate species coupled with forest birds. After your chimpanzee trek, you will drive to Bigodi Village for a wetland walk that was designed to benefit the local community living around Kibale Forest National Park. Return to the Lodge for overnight.
Day 5: To Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, your will drive 3-4 hours from Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have an opportunity of passing through small towns, seeing several foothills of Mountain Rwenzori, small rivers that originate from Rwennzori mountain ranges as well as crossing the equator at Kikorongo. Check in at Bush Lodge, relax as you prepare for a late afternoon game drive in Mweya. This section of Queen Elizabeth National Park is endowed with Antelopes, Buffaloes, Warthogs, elephants and many other wild animals including lions and leopards whose sight depends on your luck since this is nature. Day 6: Game drive and Boat Cruise
After an early morning cup of tea, you will drive back to Kasenyi plains for a game drive to catch up with what you could have missed out on your earlier game drive. Its this time of the morning that big cats are out hunting for their prey and as such chances of spotting lions and or leopards are slightly high. Never the less, you will be guaranteed to see buffaloes hippos, several species of antelopes, and many others. You may return to the lodge for lunch or drive directly to Mweya jetty for an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. This two hour boat cruise is one of the highlights in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It provides you an opportunity to view over 300 out of the 600 water bird species recorded here, antelopes, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and hippos. Return to the lodge for dinner overnight.
Day 7: To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park/Kisoro
Morning after breakfast, you will drive to Bwindi/kisoro through ishasha sector. You will have a short game drive in search of the tree. Depending on the availability of the gorilla permits, you will drive to Bwindi sector of Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo or kisoro bwindi’s closest town for dinner and overnight. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to almost half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas and the only National Park where wild chimpanzees co-exist with mountain gorillas. The other habitat for gorillas in Uganda is Mgahinga gorilla national park. Depending on the availability of permits, you van either track gorillas in Bwindi or Mgahinga. Dinner and Overnight at Bakiga, Gorilla valley lodge Travellers inn, or Mulehe Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Trek Gorillas in Bwindi/Mgahinga Forest National park
After a morning breakfast, we shall head for the park offices where briefing starts by one of the rangers. After briefing we either drive or hit the trail through the gorilla paths in the thick Bwindi Impenetrable rain forests or Mgahinga forest searching for these gentle giants. Once found, you will spend an hour viewing these beautiful apes as they tease and play with one another, feed, roll, mention it, all have a fun time photographing before heading back to the starting point for debriefing and award of certificates to the successful trekkers and thereafter drive back to the hotel for an afternoon relaxation.
Day 9: Batwa (pygmies) experience hike
In the morning, you will go to Mgahinga gorilla national park to start the batwa experience hike. This activity is done and conducted by the batwa people in collaboration with Uganda wildlife authority. The tour takes you the jingles inside Mgahinga national where the batwa people used to live before they were evicted from forest when it was made a national park. They will demonstrate to you how they used to live,hunt and survive in the forest.
Day 10: Golden monkey experience or Hike Sabinyo volcano
After breakfast, you will transfer to Mgahinga National Park headquarters for either full day golden monkey habituation experience or hike my sabinyo which stands at the border of the three countries; Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. For those going for Golden monkey tracking, you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with golden monkeys and then proceed to the mountain/forest for your trek. You will be allowed only one hour with monkeys after encountering them. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Drive to lake Mburo national park.
Morning after breakfast you will transfer to lake mburo national park. In the afternoon you will go game drive in search of animals like giraffes, zebras, impalas, buffaloes, waterbucks and much more. Proceed to the lodge for overnight
Day 12: Morning game walk and after transfer to the airport
Early in the morning, you will go for a game walk to have a close encounter with wild animals. Lake lacks the big cats like lions and there is ideal for guided walks. After the walk you prepare yourself will cross the equator and will have a chance to stop for pictures
