NSONGI GORILLA FAMILY

Location: Rushaga

The family has 7 members led by silver black Bweza. The family was once a big group with 18 members but due to infighting between the two silverbacks, bweza and kakono, it split into families, nshongi and bweza families. The family is named after nshongi river where the family was first sited. It was officially opened to tourists in 2009 with much fanfare and celebrities from far and wide
