This 5days wildlife and gorilla trekking trip, takes you to lake Mburo national park; Uganda’s smallest Savannah national parks popular for its big zebra populations and spectacular bird life, Bwindi impenetrable national park; an ancient biosphere that is home to the endangered mountain gorillas, forest elephants, chimpanzees, different species of monkeys and small antelopes not to mention 23 bird species restricted to the Albertine Rift.
Day 1: Arrival
You will be met and welcomed by our professional driver guide at Entebbe international airport. You will receive a short briefing about the safari and Uganda in general. You will then transfer to your lodge either in Entebbe or Kampala depending on where you choose to spend the night.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park
Morning after breakfast,head out to south west of Uganda, you may have several stopovers as you desire, the most exciting being at the Equator where you may take photographs and also stand in two hemispheres at the same time. Continue our journey through beautiful country side, the evergreen fields graced with long horned cattle, the pride of Ankole, lots of banana plantation all the way to whispers of the wild. Most likely you will get there in time for lunch and relax a bit. Later in the afternoon take a boat trip on lake Mburo where you will enjoy scenes of wildlife and bird life with lots of zebras, crocodiles and hippos. am sure wouldn’t want to miss out on that shot.
Day 3: Transfer to bwindi impenetrable national park
An early game drive through the green acacia as you drive out of the national park , your most likely going to spot zebras, elands, Buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, waterbucks, topics, giraffes and much. Exit the park and drive to bwindi passing through southwestern highlands also known as the “Switzerland of Africa” with terraced hills and winding roads, the scenery is amazing.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking
Finally the highlight and long awaited encounter with the gentle giants. You will go for briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking before embarking on hiking the steep and dense rain forest led by an experienced ranger guide along the trails that lead to the shy and peaceful giants that are the tip of any Ugandan or African safari. The encounter is humbling and unforgettable; you are entitled to an hour of viewing and photography before returning to the lodge. Later in the afternoon depending on the time you come back from the trek and your ability you could have a community walk around the villages and explore people’s ways of life
Day 5: Departure
After an early morning breakfast drive back to Kampala and depending on your flight time you may have a few stopovers like at the Igongo cultural centre that houses the culture and heritage of the southwestern people and at the Mpigi royal drum makers.
